We are going through difficult times. Where I leave, in Geneva, the authorities have not declared a lock-down yet, but they have asked us to stay home. I stopped going to work and to the gym since last Wednesday. But, how do we keep sane during this time? Here are some ideas:
1. keep a routine – I am waking up at the same time every day, I exercise, take a shower, breakfast and start working. I take 2 pauses one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I have lunch and go for a walk (I’ll continue to do this as long as it is allowed). After work, I do some yoga, take another walk, read and relax.
2. exercise – they are so many free videos out there. I like sugar pop fitness because they have so many workout options. Also, continue with your yoga practice, I like five park yoga because Erin offers long and short classes.
3. Learn something new – Coursera offers free courses on multiple topics. Learn or perfect another language, there are multiple apps for this.
4. start a challenge – I am going to spend my free time practicing some yoga poses that are very challenging for me. By the end fof this, I'll be a master!
5. Do the things you never have time for – clean all the kitchen pantries, reorganize your closet, start knitting a scarf (for next winter), read, and even watch movies and series.
6. Take your time for doing things – Since I do not have to commute anymore, I have 1h 20 extra minutes in my life. I am putting on my face creams as I am in the spa, taking my time for cooking and having meals.
7. Meditate, pray or whatever gives you peace of mind.
8. Enjoy the slow down - We live in such as rush that this is a good time to slow down, even just seat and enjoy the silence, the fact that you do not have to run anywhere.
9. Make the most of being in your house with your beloved ones – play board games, or games we used to play as kids like "hide and seek", talk to each other.
10. Most importantly stay calm - we will go through this! Just follow all the authorities’ recommendations and stay at home as much as you can. No need to hoard, just buy what you need so you can stay home for 2 weeks with no need to go out for groceries.
